Dear Reprise Records

We are two A-Level Media Studies students and we are writing to request your permission to use Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day.

We are hoping that you will give us your permission to let us use this track so we can use it for our current A-Level Media Studies project, which involves creating a music video, an album and a magazine advert for the artist.

With your permission we are only using this track for educational purposes and it would only be viewed by our media class, teacher and the exam board. The band and your company will be recognised throughout the production and final video.

Animatic

This is my animatic for our music video.

I believe that the animatic has helped me in the development of our music video. This is because me found that me did not have enough shots in my music video, this means that I have added more shots to our storyboard, this is so the music video fits the length of the song.

I have also found that there are parts of the song that has no lyrics, this hinders my music video because I use the lyrics for visual representation in the video, because of this there will be a montage of clips of the characters relationship.

At the beginning of the song, there is just an instrumental, I first started by having a black screen at this point, however, I saw that the time frame is to long just for a black screen, so I decided to have a countdown like the old film reels, this means that there is more on the screen.

I will use the lyrics that are in Red in my music video as they will suit well with the narrative of my music video. I will use the lyrics for shot ideas, this will also go well with the song.

Props list

These are the items that I will use when filming the music video:

• Clothing

• Light clothes for the protagonist
• Dark clothes for protagonist

• Light clothes for love interest
• Dark clothes for love interest

• Make-up

• Make-up for the protagonist

• Make-up for the love interest

• Green Screen

• I will use Green Screen for the majority of the music video, this is because it is the the constant throughout the music video, the main character will be in front of the green screen with the flashbacks playing behind him

• Props

• Ice cream, This will be used in the first beach scene as the characters will be eating ice cream

• Bench, This will be used in the park scenes, this is because the characters will be sitting on a bench in the scene

• Railing, the railing will be used in another beach scene, as the love interest will be leaning on the railing

This has helped me because when I will go to film, there will be nothing that is forgotten, this means that the filming will go ahead as planned this saves time.

Equipment list

This is a list of the equipment that I will need to shoot my music video:

• Camera, I will need this to film the music video

• Tri-pod, I will need this so that the camera will be steady and stable when filming

• Cars, I will need this to travel to the filming locations

• Green Screen, I will need this so that I can edit the flashbacks into the background of the shot

• Green Screen stands, I will need this to hold up the Green Screen when filming 

• Adobe PremierPro, I will need this to edit the music video after all the filming has been completed

• Adobe Media Encoder, I will need this to export the music video after it has been edited

• The Mac Suite, I will need this so that I can use the programs to edit my music video

• Lighting equipment, I will need this so that the film will be lit the way that I want it 

• Memory card, I will need a memory card so that I can transfer the footage from the camera to the mac, this is so I can edit the footage.

This helps me because I now know what to take and use when filming and editing the music video, making this means that I will not forget anything when on the day of filming.
